Now we need to create and assignment for the students and incorporate another set of students from another place to get their perspective on the topic.
For gardening, different plants or crops can be planted in different parts of the world based on soil fertility, sunlight, and weather conditions in that region.
Maybe an assignment could be finding their latitude and longitude point, researching the climate of the region, then find two other climates and note what is different about soil and weather conditions in those places, and how that might affect gardening. Finding the latitude and longitude points could also be related to the map portion, and could even get into what kinds of plants and foods grow closest to the equator and what happens when they get farther away.
These are just a few ideas that popped into my head. Feel free to add on or throw out something totally different. Let's get this rolling! :)
It sounds as though you have some great ideas. We need to make a decision on where the students will be so we can get a map made up and the paper written up.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking we should contact or e-pals in the begining of our project so we can ask them questions as our stages of growth change.
Ex: In the begining we would ask them their exazct location so we can find them on the map and our students can learn about their climate and what kinds of crops grow in our e-pals regions.
Questions for e-pals:
1. Where are they located : Continent,Country
2. What is their general climate
3. What crops grow in their area
4. Is their class growing anything in class
and if so what?
Sounds like were on the same page. Im setting this up to see posts on my e-mail.
Also I made the google document folder and sent the links out. We just need to finish typing in it and decide on a location and grade for our students so we can get the google map.
